Archana Puran Singh is a well-known Bollywood actress and television personality. She’s known for her comedic roles in huge popularity shows like Comedy Circus and recently for “The Kapil Sharma Show” where she came as a replacement for Siddhu. Archana Puran Singh plays a key role in “The Kapil Sharma Show” by making witty remarks, and comments and engaging in laughter conversation with the guests. This might seem all fun and game when in reality it’s all for the show. The laughs are just made-up reactions by the directors of the show to make it seem more lighter. The “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” actress who has been in the industry since 1980, recently shared her painful experience from what seems like a fun world.
On speaking of her emotional experience she recalled the time when she had to give laughing reactions despite her mother-in-law passing. “I was very close to my mother-in-law, she was in the hospital and I reached the sets and halfway through the episode, I came to know that she had passed away. I got a call and I told the production house that I had to go. The production house asked me to give the reactions and go. The reactions were laughter and I gave general comments. I still can’t forget I was sitting there laughing and laughing and I was blank in the head. All I could think of was seeing my mother-in-law’s face. It was a traumatic time,” she spoke.
This shows the lack of empathy in the Industry where you aren’t even allowed to grieve for your loved ones over work. It appears too problematic that the production team asked the actress to stay back and record her reactions of laughter which contradicts all the emotions she felt at that time. This whole situation disregards workplace boundaries and mental well-being, considering when a person is grieving someone. While Archana might have shown great professionalism, the real question is if it’s right to have professionalism over the lack of compassion.
