Nonsensical Football Continues From Carles Cuadrat’s East Bengal

East Bengal FC’s horrific run in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024/25 season continues. The side has now lost their first three opening games of the season. All over it is the side’s fifth successive loss in competitive fixtures. Carles Cuadrat has been under huge pressure after the side’s poor performance and even heard the Go Back slogan from the supporter last night.

The Red and Gold Brigade faced FC Goa in their season’s first home match. The two teams started their campaign similarly, with one loss and one draw for the Gaurs. On the other hand, East Bengal had two back-to-back losses. It was a must-win game for both sides. Despite that, the away side started better in the game. Within the first 20 minutes, they were 2-0 up against East Bengal. Borja Herrera struck twice in the first half against his former side.

East Bengal later pulled one back with a penalty goal from Madih Talal. However, in the second half, it was the same side that was wide open during the counterattack. Borja completed the first hat-trick of the season. Manolo Marquez’s side was down to 10 men for the final 10 minutes of normal time after Carl McHugh was shown the second yellow.

Carles Cuadrat’s mistake costs East Bengal

The fight was reignited, and David Lalhlansanga’s goal was set up from a long-range Anwar Ali shot that fell onto the striker’s leg who did not make any mistake from near the goal line. But East Bengal could not quite seal the draw. It puts manager Carles Cuadrat under more pressure. Same tactical blunders he has done in the last two games.

Nandhakumar Sekhar who had zero contributions was yet again kept on the pitch while Naorem Mahesh Singh was taken off while he was returning to his best. The question from the fans have been arising and they are furious with the coach’s decision on the field. The team has been suffering from such decision-making by the coach. The management needs to have a discussion immediately before the team finishes at the bottom half of the table.
