The Italian League ever since 2020 has been easily the most competitive league among the top 5 leagues in Europe. In the past 5 seasons, the Serie A has seen 4 different champions, Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan, and Napoli. After 5 matchdays in the Italian League in the 2024/2025 season, Juventus remain the only team who remains unbeaten but still are placed in 4th due to drawing 3 of their games.
Napoli is the only other team in the top 4, in second place while both Milan Clubs find themselves just outside the top 5, with Inter Milan placed in 6th and AC Milan in 7th. Both Milan clubs recently played the Milan derby where the Rossoneri emerged victorious but that win only marked their second win of the season.
So who are the clubs who have been performing better than even the usual Italian giants? Well, currently Torino is leading the league with 11 points from 5 games, 1 more than 2nd placed Napoli, and 2 points off cross-city rivals Juventus. Torino themselves are quite unfamiliar with being this high on the table. The last time they finished the league was when they were ahead of Juventus all the way back in the 1975/76 season. It is also the last time in history that Torino won the Scudetto and has never won it since.
Second place Napoli have won the Serie A thrice. They won it twice with Diego Armando Maradona, one in 1987 and one in 1990 and then won it 33 years later in 2023 with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen putting up unfathomably high numbers in the attack.
In Third place, currently are Udinese, a club which in it’s very long history, has never won the Serie A. But this time around under their new manager Kosta Runjaic, the Italian outfit have felt a sense of new life and are going strong in the Serie A currently.
Any of these sides can look to pose a threat for the Serie A title against the Usual Suspects. Will Serie A see an unlikely champion being crowned at the end of the season? Only Time Will Tell. Let us know your opinion in the commments below.
