Night College Produces Runners

Runners Arun Rathod and Naina Waghmare of Chhatrapati Shivaji Night College were felicitated for their outstanding performance in the athletics competition.

Arun Rathod won gold in 10 km and bronze medal in 5 km at the Khelo India Athletics Championships held in Guwahati (Assam). Also, in the inter-varsity sports festival held this year, Arun won gold in the 5 km and 1500 m running events. He also won the top position in the 10 km running event in the All India Inter University Athletics Competition. He also won gold in the road race 21 km running event in the All India Inter University Championship held last year. From this, he secured 14th position in the 21 km race at the World Inter-University Athletics Championships held in China.

Despite the constraints of time and the challenges posed by balancing academics and athletics, this night college consistently nurtures and produces champion athletes who defy the odds and redefine limits. Naina Waghmare won a silver medal and a cash prize of Rs. Also, Nayana secured the third position in the five-kilometre running event in the Punyashlok Ahilya Devi Solapur University Inter College Athletics Competition held at Akkalkot. He also got the second position in the 800 km race. On this Kagiri she was selected for the Inter-University Sports Festival.

Manohar Sapate, president of Maratha Samaj Seva Mandal felicitated for this achievement. General Secretary Mahesh Mane, Principal Anil Barbole, Director of Physical Education Santosh Gawli etc were present on this occasion.
