Nagpur’s Neha Dhabale won the silver medal in the 400m Hurdles Event at the ongoing 4th National Open Under-23 Athletics Championship at Patna (Bihar).
On the third day of the competition, Neha Dhabale of Future Athletics and Sports Academy, Nagpur, represented Maharashtra and won the silver medal in the 400m hurdle race by completing the distance in 1 minute 00.77 seconds. Meanwhile, Karnataka’s Dikshita Rama won the gold medal with a time of 1 minute 00.40 seconds while West Bengal’s Moumi Jana clocked 1 minute 01.14 seconds to earn the bronze medal.
Neha, who had a strong start to the highly competitive race, had to settle for second place as she stumbled a bit at the last tenth hurdle. This is something Dhabale needs to work on for sure. It was a case where Neha “No matter how you start, you have to finish strong”. And that’s exactly what Dikshita Rama could do when it mattered the most. But on the other hand, Neha failed to do so costing her and Maharashtra the Gold Medal in the 400m event at the 4th National Open Under-23 Athletics Championship.
Neha Dhabale trains on the synthetic track of Nagpur Divisional Sports Complex, practising under the guidance of Dr Brijmohan Singh Rawat.
Mithali Boyar, another runner from Nagpur, represented Maharashtra in the 5000m race but she could only clinch the 7th spot in the finals and had to be content with a time of 17.44:23s.
Nagpur District Athletics Association Secretary Dr L R Malviya Shahrad Suryawanshi also talked about how Boyar finished with a time of 17 minutes 44 seconds, something she can definitely improve upon in the future.
Mithali Boyar is a Track Star Athletics Club athlete and she trains under the guidance of International coaches Ravindra Tong and Umesh Naidu. Both coaches have immense experience in Athletics and offer great guidance to Mithali.
