Nashik District Athletics Association organized the district athletics competition and selection test for senior group men and women on synthetic track at Divisional Sports Complex. The event included running from 100 meters to 10,000 meters, long jump, high jump, triple jump and throws including javelin throw, shot put, discus throw and hammer throw.
Shubham Bhandare, Vedant Sanase, Tushar Suryavanshi, Ranjit Patil, Aziz Mulani, Satish Deshmukh, Vaishnavi Pansare, Sakshi Kasbe, Vedika Chavanke, Shravani Sangle, Sameera Shah won gold medals in their respective events to secure their place in the Nashik district team.
In the men’s 3000m Steeplechase, Shubham Bhandare put on a fine display to clinch the title in the shortest time of 09:20:59. In the men’s 200m category, Vedant Sanase finished the race in 23:09 seconds to finish first, while Piyush Sonar finished second and Harshal Bachhaw third. In Men’s 800m, Tushar Suryavanshi finished the race in the shortest time of 01:58:00 minutes to win the title while Harshit Bachhao finished second and Khanderao Jadhav third.
In the men’s 10,000-metre run, Ranjit Patil beat everyone else to win the race in 30:29:74 minutes. Kamlakar Deshmukh got the second rank in this category. Aziz Mulani finished first, Arbaaz Shaikh second and Shubham Dhage third in the men’s high jump.
In the men’s discus event, Satish Deshmukh took first place with the longest discus throw of 46:89m, Piyush Lahamge took second and Vinayak Shinde third. In the men’s 4x400m relay, the quartet of Tushar Suryavanshi, Harshit Bachchav, Khanderao Jadhav and Arnav Khairnar won the first place, while in the 4x100m relay, Piyush Sonar, Sumit Gaikwad, Harshal Bachchav, and Vedant Sanase won the first place.
Vaishnavi Pansare won the women’s 200m race by finishing the race in 24:59 seconds. In the women’s 400m hurdles event, Shravani Sangle finished the race in just 01:09 minutes to claim the title. In the women’s 10,000m event, Sakshi Kasbe finished the race first in 46:29:94 minutes to win the title. In women’s hammer throw, Vedika Chavanke finished first with a hammer throw of 38:33m.
In the women’s 400m event, Shravani Sangle crossed the threshold in just 01:00:17 seconds to claim her second gold medal. In the women’s discus throw, Amira Shah won the first position with a throw of 43:25m. While Sneha Andhare secured the second rank and Pranjal Vagh got the third rank.
Medals and certificates were awarded to the players who secured the first three positions in various categories in this competition. The players have been selected for the Nashik district team on the basis of their performance in this competition and as per the criteria laid down in the rules of Athletics Federation of India. These selected players will represent Nashik district in the 72nd Maharashtra State Championship held at Nagpur from June 1 to 4, the organizers informed.
