Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami has undergone a successful surgery on his heel. Mohammad Shami is all set to return to the cricket field soon.
He informed about his treatment by sharing the photo on social media platform X. While informing about this successful surgery, Mohammad Shami said, ‘I am recovering. It will take some time to fully recover from this.’ But he is confident of returning to the cricket field. Showing amazing enthusiasm for his comeback, Shami said, ‘Just had a successful operation on the Achilles tendon in the heel! It will take some time to recover, but I’m really looking forward to getting back on the field.’
Injury during the World Cup
Mohammad Shami was injured during the ODI World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19. He played in the World Cup with an injured ankle. He performed brilliantly in the tournament and took 24 wickets in seven matches. He was the highest wicket-taker. However, he has been away from cricket action continuously since then.
Shami will not be able to play IPL either
There is still one month left for the IPL season to start. Before that, the champion team of 2022 and the runner-up of 2023, Gujarat Titans, suffered a major blow. PTI quoted a BCCI source as saying, “Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the entire IPL season due to a left ankle injury.”
Mohammad Shami was also not selected for the South Africa tour due to injury. Apart from this, Shami is out of the Test series against England. Shami’s absence could be very detrimental to Gujarat. Hardik Pandya leaving Gujarat for Mumbai Indians is already hurting the team. Hardik, who is the captain of Gujarat, was bought by Mumbai from Gujarat Giants before the auction last year.
