In a bid to consistently elevate the performance of athletes in the state, the Maharashtra sports department has unveiled a comprehensive action program titled “Mission Targeting.” Sanjay Bansode, the Sports Minister, announced the Cabinet’s approval of the ambitious “Mission Lakshyavedh” plan, emphasizing its focus on athletes participating in National Sports Competitions, Khelo India, and International Olympic Sports Competitions.
Under “Mission Targeting,” the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services will be transformed into the Maharashtra Sports Authority. A partnership will be established with a national and international organization demonstrating excellence in sports performance. The strategic initiative aims to enhance the skills and capabilities of athletes at the national and international levels.
While “Mission Targeting” is a commendable effort, ensuring equal access to resources and opportunities across various sports disciplines is crucial to avoid unintentional bias towards certain games.
