Bayern Munich is arguably one of the biggest clubs in the world. It is a club where players come to taste unfathomable levels of success and hopefully leave a lasting impact in the minds of their fans. The club itself has had a plethora of cult heroes and club legends. The likes of Ribery, Robben, Lewandowski, Gerd Muller, Thomas Muller, and Bastian Schweinsteiger to name a few. But as of today, there is a certain youngster named Michael Olise who has only yet taken his baby steps at the storied club but promises to be one to watch out for.
The French starlet, Michael Olise, has had a banging start to his career at Bayern Munich already. Scoring 3 goals and providing 2 assists in the first 4 games of the season in the league and scoring a brace on his Champions League debut against Dinamo Zagreb. The right winger is just 22 but is coming off 3 years of Premier League experience with the London outfit Crystal Palace where he struck up a beautiful partnership with Eze, the English winger, and captivated millions including those inside Bayern Munich’s head offices.
Now, to make a mark at a club like Bayern isn’t that easy. Many stars don’t even stay long enough since the competition is so high. The expectations are a different thing altogether at a club that is expected to win every match they play. And to have such a good start at a club of this level is truly unimaginable at such a young age. But if anything, Michael Olise came prepared.
Before making the move to Munich, Michael Olise was a crucial part of the French National Team at the Olympics where they made it all the way to the Finals with Olise often being the difference maker on the pitch. With 5 assists and 2 goals to his name, Michael Olise put the team on his back up until the final, where France eventually succumbed to Spain, but Olise still managed to pull off an assist.
Still relatively young, Michael Olise has a long way ahead of him. But he also has someone to look up to. And that is Arjen Robben. With a similar playstyle to that of Michael Olise, the former Bayern Munich legend, Arjen Robben tormented the Bundesliga and European defenders throughout the game. If Olise can achieve even 3/4th of what Robben managed to achieve at Bayern, fans would be more than happy.
But I have a nagging feeling that the Frenchman will surpass the Dutchman to make an even greater legacy at Bayern Munich. Can Michael Olise surpass Arjen Robben’s legacy at Bayern Munich? Let us know your answer in the comments below.
