The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Los Angeles Clippers. The Mavs were phenomenal throughout the series as they secured a 4-2 series win. Kyrie Irving and Luka Dončić were particularly brilliant. In game 6 of the series against the Clippers, The Slovenian superstar took over the first half, while Irving took over the second. Together they led the Texas team to a 114-101 victory. The Mavs have convincingly qualified for the second round of the playoffs. There, The Mavericks will face the Oklahoma City Thunder in what is a sizzling matchup.
Kyrie Kills Clippers’ Dreams
The first half of the game did nothing to separate the two sides. They were both tied at 52 points each. The Mavericks had started the game on fire, going up 34-36 at the end of the first quarter. However, the Clippers did well to come back. The second half, however, was a completely different story. Kyrie blew away the Clippers, contributing 13 points as the Mavs raced away to win the game. Irving scored a spectacular 28 points in the second half. After going for 1 of 6 shooting in the first half, he bounced back to hit 5 of 6 in the third quarter alone. He sank a clutch 3 to give the Mavericks a 15-point lead at the end of the third quarter and killed any hope of a Clipper’s comeback.
Tough Matchup For The Mavericks
The Mavericks have been sensational in the playoffs. Both Kyrie and Luka are firing and they look like a scary team to face. Despite a rough matchup with the Thunder, The Mavs still stand a chance for the Conference finals. For the Clippers, it’s more heartache. They’ve succumbed to expectations and stumbled once more. Despite their star-studded line-up, this is their second consecutive first-round exit. The Playoffs have begun heating up now, with so many teams looking good, there’s no clear winner yet. Only time will tell which team elevates itself and wins a ring.
