Mat Power: Khashaba Jadhav Cup Ready To Wrestle In Sillod

The Khashaba Jadhav Cup wrestling tournament organized by the state government will be held in Sillod town from October 7 to 9. 300 women and men wrestlers will participate in this tournament.

In recognition of Olympic medalist Wrestler Khashaba Jadhav’s achievements in the field of wrestling, the Wrestler Khashaba Jadhav Cup wrestling tournament is organized annually in his name at the national level. It has been approved by Government Decision dated 8 March 2004. Accordingly, every year these competitions are organized at various places in the state. This year, the government has approved the Khashaba Jadhav wrestling tournament to be held at Sillod from October 7 to 9.

300 male and female athletes who have played at national and international levels will participate in this wrestling tournament. Also, approximately 100 umpires, coaches, team managers, and officials are going to participate in this tournament. The competition will be held in both Men’s Freestyle and Greco-Roman and Women’s Freestyle and in various 30-weight categories. Accommodation and food arrangements for all the participating wrestlers have been approved by the government. Accommodation is also arranged in hotels, lodges and Mangal offices at Sillod. Transportation arrangements have been made to transport the players from hotels and lodges to the venue.

Various sub-committees have been formed for the successful organization of this competition. It includes the Stadium Committee, Food Committee, Accommodation Committee, Stage Arrangement Committee, Technical Committee, Publicity Committee, Opening / Closing Ceremony Committee, Cash Prize Arrangement Committee, Trophy and Medal Arrangement Committee, Medical Committee, Transport Committee, Volunteer Committee, Office Work Committee etc. Various committees have been constituted.

This wrestling tournament will be held on a 36-acre sports ground in Sillod city. The tournament will be inaugurated by Guardian Minister Abdul Sattar on Monday (October 7) at 7 pm. Joint Director of Sports Sudhir More, secretary of Maharashtra State Wrestling Association wrestler Yogesh Dodke, Dinesh Gund, Sharad Kachare and other dignitaries will be present on this occasion.

The wrestling tournament will be held on October 8 and 9 from 8 am to 10 am and 4 pm to 9 pm at Vidyut Zhota. Cash prizes of Rs.60,000 for the first place, Rs.50,000 for the second place, and Rs.30,000 for the third place in the highest category will be given to the players of different weight groups who have mastered Freestyle and Greco-Roman in this competition. Also, in the other nine weight groups, cash prizes of Rs. 35.25 lakhs will be given to the first prize of Rs. 30 thousand, the second prize of Rs. 25 thousand and the third prize of Rs. 15 thousand.
