Manu Bhaker’s aim miss the mark; setback at 25m pistol event

India so far has won three medals in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. All three of them have come in shooting. Manu Bhaker has won two bronze medals in the Women’s Singles Category in the 10m Air Pistol event and one in the mixed doubles along with Sarabjot Singh. Another bronze has come from the hand of Swapnil Kusale who also secured the third position in the Men’s 50m Rifle Three Positions.

Manu Bhaker has been the lucky charm for India whatever she has touched it has turned into success. The 22-year-old shooter is into her second multinational event. She became the first Indian woman shooter to claim an Olympic medal. Three years after the pistol malfunction she redeemed herself into a champion shooter. She worked hard to get the bronze with a score of 221.7. Manu started well in the final of the Women’s 25m Pistol event.

But she failed to win the fourth and third medals for herself. She lost to Hungary’s Veronica Major in the 3rd place shoot-out round. She struck 28 while the Hungarian struck 29 in the event. Bhaker was close with South Korea’s Yang Jiin at one point but she failed to keep up the momentum.

India is really proud of Manu Bhaker

Another failure under pressure? Manu Bhaker has handled the pressure but the pressure in the final is something else. For a young shooter, it will be a learning in this category. She has made the country extremely proud of her achievements in the multinational event. The Haryana-born shooter has been the face of the nation in the Olympics.

Now the eyes will turn to the Women’s Archery where the two archers Deepika Kumari and Bhajan Kaur take on their respective opponents in the quarter-finals of the event. The nation has failed comprehensively in the archery and other events as well. The two girls will be looking to change their fortunes in favour of the nation and win at least one medal for the country. A huge pressure will be on their shoulder to make the nation proud in the archery event.
