Manchester United Coach Reveals The Reason Behind Jadon Sancho’s Refusal To Apologise To Erik Ten Hag

Jadon Sancho is heading into what could be one of the biggest matches of his career on Saturday. The winger will take the field for Borussia Dortmund when the German side takes on Real Madrid in the Final of the UEFA Champions League. Although he is one of Dortmund’s main players, the England international is under contract with Manchester United. He was sent out on loan to Germany as he had a fallout with coach Erik Ten Hag earlier this season.

The Dutch manager dropped the 24-year-old in one of United’s Premier League games. When asked by the media about the reason behind dropping the winger, Ten Hag stated that Sancho had not trained well. This was not taken well by the winger, he went on social media and called the manager a liar.

Ten Hag decided to punish Sancho by abolishing him from the first-team squad. He was asked to train with the U-18s and eat separately for almost four months. It was only in the winter transfer window that Jadon Sancho found a way out of the trouble as he was sent out on loan to his former club Borussia Dortmund.

United’s forward coach Benni McCarthy revealed that he had a conversation with Sancho about the situation. Speaking on a South African radio station, he said, ” I spoke to Jadon as a coach, as a mentor, as a friend, and as someone who grew up on the streets and knows the code. But Jadon just wasn’t seeing it. He said, “I ain’t apologising because if I do, I’m apologising for being lazy, always being late, not giving my best – that’s what I’m apologising for”. Those were his reasons.”

Is there a return for Jadon Sancho to Manchester United?

Jadon Sancho is once again playing the best football of his life at Borussia Dortmund. However, he is under contract with United and would have to move back to England after the Champions League Final. While he would certainly love to stay in Germany, the Red Devils will have a couple of decisions to make before they can allow that.

Erik Ten Hag, the man who ostracised Sancho from the team has no guaranteed future at the club. The management is conducting an official review of his season and will soon decide whether he gets another season or not. If the club decide to continue with Ten Hag, Sancho might leave England permanently, but if they sack the Dutchman, he might be the man on the right wing for United next season.
