In a remarkable victory at the 50th College State Level Kabaddi Tournament hosted by Maharishi Dayanand Mahavidyalaya, the college achieved a remarkable double triumph by securing top honors in both the senior college and women’s college categories.
In the senior category final, Maharishi Dayanand A team showcased their skill by overcoming the resistance of Maharshi Dayanand B team with a scoreline of 28-22. Ajay Verma emerged as a standout player, leading Team A to victory. Despite a close 11-10 lead in the first session, Team A secured their win through a strategic and cautious approach in the second session. Sanket More and Sahil Tilekar’s measured gameplay, coupled with Sahil’s pivotal catches, played a significant role in this Victory. Krish and Ritesh from Team B displayed commendable effort but fell short of securing the victory.
In the women’s category final, Maharshi Dayanand A team continued the winning streak by defeating Maharshi Dayanand B team with a score of 27-24. Sumti Ankush Malkar left her mark by claiming the silver trophy. Team A, starting aggressively with a 16-07 lead, faced a resilient fight from Team B in the second innings. However, A emerged victorious with a three-point lead. Outstanding performances by Samriddhi Bhagat and Urja Salgaonkar from Team A, along with Esha Khopkar and Raksha Jadhav from Team B, added excitement to the match.
The prestigious prize distribution ceremony was conducted by the college principal, Chhaya Panse, with the presence of numerous former Kabaddi and Khokho players from the college, adding a touch of nostalgia and celebration.
While celebrating the college’s sporting achievements, more emphasis should be placed on promoting diverse sports to unearth hidden talents.
