Maharashtra Wins Again: Rigved Barguje Secures Second Consecutive National MotoCross Championship Title

In a remarkable display of skill and determination, 23-year-old Rigved Barguje from Pune led Maharashtra to secure the coveted first place in the National MotoCross Championship for the second consecutive year. This victory marks a historic achievement for the state after nearly two decades.

The National MotoCross Championship, hosted in Mysore, witnessed Rigved Barguje’s stellar performance, earning him the title of Best Rider and clinching the National Championship for the second consecutive year. Guided by his father, the esteemed International Motocross winner Dnyaneshwar Barguje, Rigved showcased exceptional talent and resilience throughout the competition.

Despite facing challenges, including a sprained right thumb during practice at the TVS factory, Rigved Barguje overcame the odds, relying on painkillers to secure victory. The competition comprised six rounds held in various locations, including Coimbatore, Vadodara, Nashik, Bangalore, Mangalore, and Mysore. Rigved excelled in each round, cementing his dominance in the championship.

Rigved Barguje’s journey in MotoCross began in 2012, and he swiftly climbed the ranks, emphasizing rigorous practice and participation in prestigious championships. His notable achievements include triumphs in the Sri Lankan Junior Championship, the Indian Junior National Championship, and the MRF Private Foreign Open Championship in the SX Two category. However, a setback occurred in 2018 when an accident led to a two-year hiatus from racing.

The triumphant return in 2022 saw Rigved Barguje clinching the MRF SX One Indian National Championship, contributing to Maharashtra’s title victory after 21 years. The accomplishment underscores Rigved’s resilience and commitment to his passion, making him a notable figure in the world of MotoCross.

While Rigved Barguje’s consecutive victories are commendable, some critics may question the overall competitiveness of the National MotoCross Championship and advocate for a more diverse and challenging field.
