In a stellar display of talent and teamwork, the Maharashtra team emerged triumphant in both the boys’ and girls’ categories of the Inter School National Khokho Championship. The 67th National School Khokho Tournament witnessed Maharashtra claiming the double crown, securing victory in an intense competition held at the Divisional Sports Complex in Nashik. The Gujarat state team showcased commendable performances, securing the runner-up position in both groups.
Under the guidance of the Maharashtra State Directorate of Sports and the School Games Federation of India, the tournament reached its climax on Thursday. In a nail-biting final match of the 17-year age group, the Maharashtra teams for boys and girls displayed exceptional skills, securing a one-point victory over Gujarat in the boys’ category and a seven-point victory in the girls’ category.
The boys’ final saw Maharashtra defeating Gujarat 13-12 in a closely contested match, showcasing resilience and strategic prowess. In the girls’ final, Maharashtra dominated with an all-round performance, defeating Gujarat 13-06 and securing the double crown.
The prize distribution ceremony featured distinguished guests, including Olympian Dattu Bhokanal and Chhatrapati awardee Narendra Chhajed. Sushma Chaudhary and Krishna Bansod from Maharashtra were honored as the best-performing players, while Ajaybhai Bhavbhor (Gujarat) and Amrita Patil (Maharashtra) received accolades as the best attackers. Avni Vansh (Gujarat) and Bhavesh Mhasde were recognized as the best defenders.
Expressing their prowess, the Maharashtra players showcased exceptional skills in both attacking and defending, securing their dominance in the tournament.
