In a remarkable display of skill and teamwork, both boys and girls teams from Maharashtra secured spots in the quarter-finals of the 67th National School Khokho Tournament. The tournament, held at the Divisional Sports Complex in Nashik, witnessed fierce competition among 28 teams in the 17 years age group.
On the fourth day of the event, Maharashtra’s boys’ team demonstrated exceptional performance, defeating the Vidya Bharti team by an innings of eight runs. Tanmay Shewale, Shankar Yadav, Vilas Valvi, and others showcased their prowess in both batting and bowling, securing a well-deserved victory.
The girls’ team from Maharashtra lived up to expectations, achieving a resounding victory with a margin of 24 to 02 innings against Telangana. Captain Sushma Chaudhary led the charge with an all-round performance, contributing significantly in both batting and bowling. Rohini Bhawar, Sanika Chafe, and Amrita Patil also made noteworthy contributions, securing their team’s dominance.
As the tournament progresses, teams from various states have emerged victorious to enter the semi-finals. In the boys’ category, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sanghatan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Delhi, Kerala, and Rajasthan joined Maharashtra in the quest for the championship. Meanwhile, in the girls’ division, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana, and Orissa advanced alongside Maharashtra.
The competition intensifies as these skilled teams vie for the prestigious title in a testament to the talent and dedication in school-level Khokho.
