In a significant move aimed at fostering sporting excellence in Maharashtra, Finance Minister Ajit Pawar unveiled major initiatives during the state’s interim budget presentation.
With a focus on elevating the state’s performance in the realm of sports, the budget earmarked a staggering 537 crores for the sports department, signaling a renewed commitment to athletic development.
Furthermore, under the ambitious ‘Mission Lakshyavedh’ scheme, a comprehensive three-tiered training infrastructure will be established to nurture sporting talent at the grassroots level.
This initiative aims to create a robust framework encompassing State-level training facilities, Divisional-level Sports Excellence Centers, and District-level Sports Talent Development Centers, ensuring holistic support for aspiring athletes across Maharashtra.
In a bid to bolster the state’s sporting infrastructure, plans for the establishment of a dedicated sports university in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district were unveiled. With a provision of 50 crores allocated for this purpose, the university aims to serve as a hub for sports education, research, and talent cultivation.
The move is poised to provide a significant impetus to the development of sports across urban and rural areas, offering a platform for youth to excel in various disciplines.
As Maharashtra embarks on this transformative journey to invigorate its sporting landscape, stakeholders and enthusiasts alike eagerly anticipate the realization of these visionary initiatives, which promise to propel the state towards sporting prominence on the national and international stage.
