Lionel Messi not leading by example; Ibiza’s illegal property vandalised

Lionel Messi is one of the greatest footballers of all time. The Argentina captain has won every possible trophy in his career. There’s nothing left to be achieved by the all-time greatest footballer of this era. Messi has left Europe and playing in the USA for Inter Miami and will soon hang up his boots as well. However, he continues to deliver in the biggest stage of football.

However, there has been a controversy surrounding the former FC Barcelona superstar. His Ibiza mansion has been vandalised by climate activist yobs. The group was able to break into the football star’s luxurious mansion, covering it in red and black paint and unfurling a banner over its entrance that read: “Help the planet, eat the rich, abolish the police.”

They also posed with a sign beside a swimming pool and football pitch where the celebrity and his family unwind when on vacation on the island. They were also seen near the goalposts within the grounds. This is not the first instance that they are vandalising someone’s house or mansion. Previously also the same group have been involved in other controversies last year. The extremist group vandalised the headquarters of Spain’s biggest political parties and banks.

Lionel Messi’s illegal property saga continues

As well as Ibiza nightclub Pacha, and boasted online about the damage it had caused to the property in Cala Tarida, west of Ibiza. Cleaning up the mansion will cost thousands. The 37-year-old was not at the property, which he is understood to have purchased in 2022 when the vandalism took place.

Why did the group choose the Argentine footballer’s house? The specific reason for the same is still unknown as and why they invaded the mansion. It does not set a good example for the society as well. The group believes that the property is an illegal one and highlights the climate crisis’s impact on the Balearic Islands. This is not the first time Messi has been involved in an illegal case. Previously he skipped tax and had to pay for the same as well.
