Lando Norris will be facing Max Verstappen in the upcoming Mexico Grand Prix on October 27. The McLaren driver remained adamant that he was unfairly treated at last weekend’s United States race, where he was punished and dropped down from third to fourth behind the three-time world champion. Verstappen extended his lead to 57 points over Norris. The latter was punished for running off track when was forced to do so.
He passed the Dutchman with five races remaining. The Briton also stated that Verstappen was an expert at aggressive defending by keeping ahead at the apex and then attacking. Charles Leclerc, the Texas race winner, gave his opinion, claiming that Verstappen’s “being on the limit of the regulations” is what makes clashes with him “so exciting”. Norris said he would “do what I think is right” with his battle with Max Verstappen.
The Formula One world title intensifies. Norris was one of several drivers who questioned Verstappen’s approach to the corner, claiming it was within the rules but was not fair racing. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who won the race in Austin, called Verstappen’s defense of his place against Norris “a little too extreme.” Many drivers want to speak with F1’s governing body, the FIA, during this weekend’s Mexico City Grand Prix about the racing rules.
Lando Norris slams Max Verstappen
Is Lando Norris too Cautious to compete? The McLaren driver said, “Max is the best in the world in this style of defense and attack. So I have to be at his level and at the moment I am not quite at the level I need to be at. It’s a shame to say, but it’s probably the truth. At the same time, it’s a chance for me to learn and progress.”
“Max didn’t care if he won or if he was second or third. He did what he thought was right and I did what I thought was right. As a team, we still disagree with the penalty and I think the majority of people who watched disagreed.” Will Lando Norris take his revenge on Sunday?
