In a huge boost for India, all-rounder Hardik Pandya has recovered from his ankle injury and resumed bowling in full swing ahead of his return in IPL 2024. The 30-year-old has been out of action since sustaining an ankle injury against Bangladesh in the World Cup in October.
Pandya’s fitness update comes as a boost to both the Mumbai Indians and the Indian national team ahead of IPL 2024 and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup respectively. When fit and on song, Pandya is one of the most destructive all-rounders in the game and an an asset to any team.
The 30-year-old created headlines last month when he was traded back to the Mumbai Indians from the Gujarat Giants and appointed their captain for IPL 2024. The decision to replace the highly successful Rohit Sharma did not sit well with the vast majority of Mumbai Indians’ fans, who called for Sharma to be reinstated as their captain.
In such a situation, the return of Hardik Pandya is one of the things to look forward to in IPL 2024 as many believe that he has to prove his mettle as a captain. More importantly, his performances as captain of the Mumbai Indians will also go a long way in determining whether he should be handed the reins of the national team during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup later this year.
Pandya provided an update on his fitness through a post on social media in which he is seen bowling. He captioned the video “It feels good to be back. My journey started on this very ground 17 years ago. I am giving my all every day.”
