The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team celebrated a lucrative victory after becoming IPL champions for the third time, earning Rs 20 crore in prize money. Sunrisers Hyderabad, who finished as runners-up, received Rs 12.5 crore.
In the thrilling final match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets. This victory secured the glittering trophy for KKR, led by Shreyas Iyer, along with the substantial prize money. However, it wasn’t just KKR that enjoyed financial rewards; Sunrisers Hyderabad also received a significant payout for their performance.
Despite their loss in the title match, Sunrisers Hyderabad, captained by Pat Cummins, were awarded Rs 12.5 crore as the runner-up prize money.
The financial rewards extended beyond the champions and runners-up. The teams finishing in third and fourth place also received substantial prizes. Rajasthan Royals, securing third place, and Royal Challengers Bangalore, finishing fourth, each received Rs 7 crore.
