Kohli Resurfaces in Test Top 10, Marsh’s Surge in Batting Rankings, and T20I Shifts Unveiled

India’s Virat Kohli marked the new year by reclaiming a spot in the MRF Tyres ICC Player Rankings’ top ten, securing ninth place after a four-place climb (761) following his contributions of 38 and 76 in India’s recent Test against South Africa.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s Dean Elgar ascended 19 positions to 17th (680) after an impactful performance in the Centurion Test, positioning him favorably as he approaches his final appearance.

In Australia’s Test against Pakistan, Mitchell Marsh’s noteworthy batting display propelled him 16 places up to 52nd (504). Despite a dip in form, Travis Head maintained his top 10 spot, rating at 754. The leaderboard is still led by Kane Williamson (864), closely followed by Joe Root (859) and Steve Smith (820).

Jasprit Bumrah re-entered the Test bowling rankings at fifth (767) after his comeback, trailing slightly behind Ravindra Jadeja (774). Marco Jansen made strides in both bowling (22nd, 618) and all-rounder (8th, 268) rankings.

In the T20I Player Rankings, Bangladesh’s Mitch Santner climbed eight places to eighth (657) after a standout performance, while Shoriful Islam’s impressive week propelled him 32 spots higher. Mustafizur Rahman also moved five places to 22nd (605).

In Afghanistan’s series against the UAE, Ibrahim Zadran rose 14 spots to 33rd in batting rankings. Notable movers on the bowling side were UAE’s Ali Naseer (up 29 places) and Muhammad Jawadullah (up 22 spots).
