Algeria’s Imane Khelif is creating quite a stir at the Olympics. The Algerian boxer has ensured a medal for her country after her triumph against Hungary’s Luca Anna Hamori. The 25-year-old has sealed Algeria’s first boxing medal since 2000. However, she’s getting media attention for shameful reasons. Khelif has received tons of transphobic hate after she defeated Italy’s Angela Carini. Many media channels and even celebrities such as Elon Musk are criticizing the Olympics for letting a ”man” fight a woman. The funny part of this entire controversy is that Khelif isn’t even trans. She was born a woman and she is a biological woman. They’re hating on her just because she doesn’t fit their agenda.
Khelif Is A Biological Woman
Khelif is a woman with extremely high amounts of testosterone in her body. This is an extremely common condition in female athletes. The IAAF reported that 7 in 1000 elite female athletes have the same condition. Khelif was disqualified from the 2023 World Championship in Delhi for the high amount of testosterone in her body. Women go through several hormonal changes throughout their life and this is completely normal. This has been used against Khelif in an unreal smear campaign to prove she’s a man. The Algerian welterweight has a record of 9-5 and has previously been defeated in the Olympics quarter-finals in 2021. If Khelif truly was a man then she’d have been unbeatable.
In The Face Of Adversity
The 25-year-old is dreaming big. She has her eyes on the prize despite the shameful campaign against her. Khelif’s victory against Hamori was historic and the 25-year-old has a whole nation praying for her. This victory feels even more sweet when one discovers that hours before the bout, Hamori posted a picture of a female boxer facing off against the devil. It was a truly vile attack on Khelif and completely flouted the Olympic spirit of sportsmanship. Despite all this disrespect, Khelif shook Hamori’s hand and kept her cool. She oozes class. The row will continue and the outrage will be loud but Imane Khelif will not care. She has her eyes on the prize. The facts cannot be changed. She was born a woman and she is a woman. Twitter trolls and keyboard warriors can keep crying. Khelif keeps winning.
