Kenyan marathon runner Kelvin Kiptum died along with his coach in a horrific accident in Rift Valley. This incident has shocked the athletics world.
According to information from Kenya, the accident took place in the Rift Valley when Kelvin was driving the car. Both Kelvin Kiptum and his coach died in the accident. A third passenger, Sharon Kosge, was seriously injured and is being treated at a local hospital.
At just 24 years old, Kelvin Kiptum had many world records to his name. He died in a road accident. In the Chicago Marathon, Kelvin made history by beating Elude Kipchoge. With three of the seven fastest marathons, Kelvin completed the races in under two hours. Since then, Kelvin was planning to make his debut at the Paris Olympics.
The tragic death of Kelvin Kiptum has left the athletics world in mourning. World Athletics Federation president Sebastian Coe and other officials have expressed their condolences. Coyne expressed deep regret over the accident. “Kelvin has left behind an indelible legacy in a short career”, he said.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic accident involving Kelvin Kiptum and his coach Gervais Hakizimana,” Coe said.
