Kai Havertz haunts Chelsea to help the Gunners demolish their city rivals

Kai Havertz proved to be the villain last night as he scored two goals against his former team Chelsea to lead Arsenal to a 5-0 win. The German international looked dangerous right from the get-go against a depleted Chelsea team. Both of Havertz’s goals were brilliant finishes and the 24-year-old did not forget to show his excitement on scoring them against his former team.

Chelsea brought Kai Havertz from Bayern Leverkusen in 2020. He was a highly touted player and some big teams were in the race to acquire his services. However, he chose to move to the Blues and although the first season didn’t pan out as he would have expected, the German showed signs of brilliance. In the next season, Havertz was instrumental in Chelsea’s Champions League run. He scored the winning goal in the Final to help the club to their second UCL trophy.

After winning a few trophies with Chelsea, Havertz decided to move to rival club Arsenal last summer. He had a tough start to the campaign, but off-late the German has been pivotal for the Gunners. The game against Chelsea had major repercussions and Arsenal needed Kai Havertz to be at his best. He certainly was all night and this led to the club smashing five goals past their London rivals.

What exactly does Kai Havertz do for Arsenal?

Kai Havertz has played in the Premier League for over four years now. He often plays as the number nine, but managers have admitted that they believe that Havertz is not a proper striker and his finishing at times shows that. However, the German has been positioned in the front three for Arsenal and has seemed to enjoy a lot of success.

He has scored 11 goals in the Premier League for Arsenal and revitalised their attack. The club have lacked a player who can contribute alongside Bukayo Saka and Martin Oddegard. Although Havertz still has not delivered at that standard, his potential is there to see for everyone. Mikel Arteta had deployed him in the midfield for a few games as well, but the 24-year-old has found joy in the frontline for the Gunners.

He has the ability to win headers and can also get physical against bigger defenders. Havertz has a lot of positives in his game, but what he needs to add is consistency. He often ghosts during some matches and then pops up with a big performance in another. With Arsenal fighting for the Premier League title, they cannot afford that and they will need all their players to deliver every game.

The Gunners now have four games to play, but they are all against tricky opponents. The team from North London have a derby game against Tottenham Hotspurs this weekend. Their second last fixture is against Manchester United, a team that can be unpredictable. They currently are first on the table with 77 points, but this could change if they drop points in those games.
