King Kai’s reign has come to an end. It’s time for nasty Niklas to take over. Kai Havertz has had an absolute stinker against Hungary. Despite his fabulous form for club and country this calendar year, he looked hapless on the field on Wednesday. After a decent showing against Scotland, hopes were high for Havertz but he did not answer Germany’s prayers. Die Manschafft sealed a comfortable victory against Hungary but Havertz let the fans down. He was toothless in front of the goal, his passes did not materialize and he just lacked that edge. A lackluster performance from someone who’s always stepped up for the national team.
Tough Day At The Office
It was a disappointing day for Kai. He failed to get on the end of several crosses from Maxi Mittelstadt. He missed an early chance which saw him overpowering Orban and going eyeball to eyeball against the Hungarian keeper. After that, he was practically invisible. Every time the ball went to him, it somehow found its way straight to the Hungarians. King Kai was far from his best. Julian Nagelsmann has tried his best to integrate the arsenal man into his squad. He’s even played him at left-back! But Havertz has been extremely sloppy at times. The manager will be looking at other options for Germany’s game against Switzerland.
King Kai Overthrown
Germany has a constellation of stars in their team. From Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz to Bayern’s Jamal Musiala, they’re filled to the brim with talent. They’ve got one of the deepest squads in the Euros and replacing a player isn’t a tall task. They’ve got Undav and Fullkrug waiting in the reserves. Kai Havertz has to justify his inclusion in the squad. He has to get in goalscoring situations and take his chances. He’s got a quarterback like Toni Kroos pulling the strings. Havertz has got a midfield of Wirtz, Musiala, and Gundogan creating chances for him. The Germans need someone to bang the ball into the head. They need a target man rather than a player like Havertz who floats all around the pitch. As good as Havertz is, if Germany want a clinical striker, Fullkrug is their man, not Havertz.
