The Maharashtra State Kabaddi Association has honoured National Umpire Jayant More from Solapur with the prestigious Senior Umpire Award this year. Jayant More holds the position of Joint Secretary of the Solapur District Kabaddi Association and serves as a sports teacher at Res. S. Chandak Prashala. This recognition was part of the celebrations held on July 15th, known as Kabaddi Day, commemorating the birthday of Kabaddi Maharshi Shankarrao Salvi, a revered figure in the sport’s history.
Kabaddi Day is a significant event marked annually by the Maharashtra State Kabaddi Association to honour the contributions of various senior personalities in the Kabaddi community. Jayant More’s dedication and service to the sport were highlighted during this year’s celebration, where he was felicitated alongside other notable figures.
The ceremony saw the presence of several distinguished guests, including Atul Benke, the President of the State Association and Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Atul Benke is known for his active involvement in promoting sports and youth activities across Maharashtra. His leadership within the association has been pivotal in fostering the growth of kabaddi at both grassroots and competitive levels.
Mangal Pandey, the Sarkaryawah of the association, also attended the event. Pandey has been instrumental in driving the administrative and operational aspects of the Maharashtra State Kabaddi Association, ensuring the smooth conduct of tournaments and development programs.
Former Sarkaryawah Baburao Chandore was another key figure at the event. Chandore’s tenure was marked by numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing the infrastructure and accessibility of kabaddi. His legacy continues to influence the strategic direction of the association. Vice President Shankutla Khatavkar, whose involvement in the association spans several years, was also present.
As a sports teacher at Res. S. Chandak Prashala, Jayant More has been influential in inspiring young athletes and imparting the values of discipline and sportsmanship. His dual role as an educator and umpire speaks volumes of his deep-rooted passion for the sport and his unwavering commitment to its development.
