Disha Patil from Jalgaon has emerged as the frontrunner in the 60-63 kg weight category, earning a coveted spot in the Maharashtra team for the seventh senior women’s boxing tournament. The prestigious competition, organized by the Boxing Federation of India, is scheduled to take place in Uttar Pradesh from December 20 to 27.
Disha’s journey to the national stage involved a rigorous selection test held in Akola, where she faced tough competition from other skilled contenders – Shravani Barge (Satara), Mitika Gunele (Mumbai), and Tejaswini Parkhe (Buldana). Impressively, Disha clinched the first rank in the selection test, securing her position in the Maharashtra team.
Mentored by Nilesh Baviskar, the coach of the District Level Khelo India Boxing Training Centre, Disha’s success is not only a testament to her dedication but also reflects the guidance and training provided by her coach.
The District Sports Officer, Ravindra Naik, and Sports Officer, Sujata Gulhane, along with key figures from the Jalgaon City Boxing Association, including Dr. Srikrishna Belorkar, Dr. Amol Patil, Nayan Rane, Rohidas Patil, and others, have extended their congratulations to Disha Patil.
