IPL 2025: 4 players Gujarat Titans will retain ahead of mega auction

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been one of the most entertaining leagues in the world. The toughest T20 league has provided some exciting matches throughout these years. The rich cash league will be entering its 18th edition in 2025. In the last edition, the fans saw some scintillating run chases and exciting batting displays. There were some records broken in the last season as well.

The 2025 edition will be much more exciting as the teams will be re-shuffled. As of now, the mega auction will be taken ahead of the next season. The 10 teams can only retain four cricketers and do one Right-to-Match card. They will have the chance to buy out their former players. More cricketers will be going under the hammer than the usual numbers as the teams need to rebuild almost from scratch. There will be an exciting battle at the auction table as well.

Gujarat Titans (GT) failed to qualify for the playoff stages last season. Under their new captain Shubman Gill they struggled to keep up the momentum they gained in their first two seasons. Gill himself also was tested as a skipper in the toughest T20 league in the world. They will have some tough choices to make in the upcoming auction. We take a look at the players that will be retained by the side.

Here are the 4 players retained by Gujarat Titans

4. Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami has been one of the finest bowlers for India. Shami missed the last season for the Titans due to injury. He will be back with the side with his exceptional new ball skills and help the side pick early wickets in the powerplay. The 33-year-old speedster was crucial in their title-winning season. He will be retained by the franchise for the upcoming season.

3. Sai Sudharsan

Sai Sudharsan is one of the most promising upcoming talents for India. The Southpaw was excellent since he joined Titans and was crucial in the final against Chennai Super Kings. But unfortunately, his side lost the final in the 2023 season. The franchise will not let go of such talent who has been the pillar of the middle order for the side. He has given the balance in the top order as well.

2. Rashid Khan

Rashid Khan has been one of the finest spin bowlers in the shortest format of the game. The Afghan skipper has established himself as a regular for the franchise he has represented over the years. Rashid has gained immense love from India. His spin has webbed some of the greatest batters in the IPL. He will be one of the most important for the side in the retention list.

1. Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill, the so-called ‘Prince of India’ has been a huge asset for the nation. Gill performed poorly last season after captaincy pressure. However, he would like to change the fortunes in the next season and win the silverware for the side. He has been their best batter since joining and will look to firepower. He will remain the first on the retention list.
