It is now evident that RCB’s explosive batsman, Virat Kohli, will receive the ‘Orange Cap’ in this year’s IPL. Kohli has amassed an impressive 741 runs in 15 innings.
Virat Kohli’s performance in the IPL this year has been outstanding. He currently stands as the highest run-scorer of the season, with 741 runs in 15 matches at an average of 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.69. Throughout this period, Kohli has achieved 5 fifties and 1 century. Despite Royal Challengers Bangalore’s exit from the IPL after losing the eliminator, Kohli is set to claim the ‘Orange Cap’.
Kohli’s dominant run tally put him ahead of his closest rivals, Travis Head, Riyan Parag, and Sanju Samson. Travis Head, who could have posed the biggest threat, managed only 34 runs off 28 balls in the second qualifier, bringing his total to 561 runs this season. Riyan Parag has accumulated 573 runs, while Sanju Samson, who was dismissed early in his last match, has scored 531 runs.
With Hyderabad having reached the final, Travis Head would need an improbable 181 runs to surpass Kohli. If Kohli clinches the Orange Cap this season, it will be his second time achieving this honour. He previously won the Orange Cap in 2016, a season where he scored a record-breaking 973 runs.
