If reports are to be believed, IPL 2024 is set to kickstart from March 22 this year with the final to be played on May 26. Meanwhile, the second edition of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is expected to start on February 22 and the final on March 17.
According to media reports, the BCCI has approved a schedule where the IPL starts five days after the WPL. Though there is no official confirmation on the matter, yet, BCCI officials have said that the IPL schedule will be announced after the announcement of the Lok Sabha election dates in the country.
A great opportunity
Along with being one of the most-watched sporting events in the country, this year’s IPL takes on even more significance since it will be closely followed by the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which starts just five days after the IPL concludes. In this scenario, this IPL is a great opportunity for some players to stake their claim for a spot in the Indian squad. India begins their World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 5.
