Chennai Super Kings have been dealt a huge blow as Devon Conway has sustained a thumb injury and will need to undergo surgery.
Conway is reportedly out of action till May. This news has increased the concern of the Chennai Super Kings team. Conway will undergo surgery on his left thumb this week. So he will not be able to bat for at least eight weeks. Conway, 32, was recently injured during the T20I series against Australia. So he could not even play in the first test. After the doctor’s advice, he decided to undergo surgery. He will need at least eight weeks to recover from the surgery. In that case, Conway will not be with the team for more than half the tournament. The IPL will start on March 22.
With the exclusion of Devon Conway, Chennai Super Kings will also have to make changes in the playing eleven. Because Devon Conway was a strong player of the Chennai Super Kings team. He started well with Rituraj Gaikwad. Conway, who started his IPL career in 2022, played seven matches in the first season and scored 252 runs at an average of 42. It includes three fifties. In the 2023 season, he scored six fifties while playing all 16 matches for the team. 92 was his highest score. Conway had hit 672 runs.
