The President of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), PT Usha, got into trouble with other members. Most of the members of the association have opposed the appointment of Raghuram Iyer as CEO. Therefore, IOA will once again implement a new process for the appointment of a CEO. Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha and other members had a good debate.
Most of the IOA members opposed the appointment of Raghuram Iyer as CEO while the former great rejected the demand for his ouster. The main agenda of the meeting convened by Usha on January 5 was to approve the appointment of Raghuram Iyer as CEO. But it had to end in the interim. After the meeting, Usha said, “They want to start the whole process again. They want to advertise again. It’s like saying we don’t want this person and let’s start the process all over again.”
IOC in trouble after CEO not appointed
The other members, IOA president PT Usha said, “This process of appointing the CEO took two years and now they want to start it again. There will be serious consequences for the IOC if the CEO is not appointed. This could threaten India’s chances of bidding and hosting the 2036 Olympics. I will not accept it. I have told this to the International Olympic Committee and will not give up, I will not go anywhere unless IOA is cleared.”
IOC Director Jerome Poivy also participated in the online meeting. Following Usha’s warning, the 10 members of the executive council who were physically present at the meeting stated that they had decided to resume the process of appointing the CEO. The statement said, “Iyer was not approved as CEO. Apart from this, it was decided to restart the process of CEO appointment with new conditions.”
