India’s Chess Masters Strike Gold in a Historic Victory

Indian men’s team defeated USA 2.5-1.5 in the tenth round of the 45th Chess Olympiad to clinch a historic gold medal with one round to spare. India remains at the top with 19 points. Even if the player loses in the next round, the highest tiebreaker score will be the champion. At the end of the tenth round, the title of the Indian team has been decided.

Grandmaster and World Championship challenger De Gukesh defeated Fabiano Caruana in the men’s category to give India its first-ever gold medal at the Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary. Grandmaster Praveen Thipse and Pragyanand’s coach RB Ramesh also confirmed this. RB Ramesh and Praveen Thipse also congratulated the team for winning gold.

Indian men’s team remains at the top with 19 points. In this regard, Grandmaster Praveen Thipse said “India lost in the 11th round and even though they had equal points with the other team, India had a good score in the tiebreaker. So India’s gold is certain.”

Indian women’s team wins against China

In the tenth round of the 45th Chess Olympiad, the Indian men’s team defeated the USA 2.5-1.5. The Indian men’s team is unbeaten in the tournament and continues to top the open group with 19 points. De Gukesh defeated Fabiano Caruana at the first table. Pragyananda lost to Wesley So. Vidit Gujarathi stopped Levron to equalise. Arjun Irigaisi defeated Perez.

Indian women’s team defeated China 2.5-1.5 in the tenth round. The women’s team had earlier played to a draw with the US team and now bounced back with a win over China. In the Indian women’s team, only Divya Deshmukh won while Noida’s Vantika Aggarwal, Vaishali, and Harika drew. Divya Deshmukh defeated Shukken. Vantika held Miaoi to a draw. At the first table, Dronavalli Harika was held to a draw against Xu Jiner, while Vantika had to hold Miaoyi to a draw.
