Indian Tennis Sensation Gets Bank of Baroda Endorsement Deal

Sumit Nagal, the only athlete bound to represent India in Tennis Men’s singles event at the Paris Olympics recently bagged himself a huge endorsement deal. The 26-year-old was signed by Bank Of Baroda as their brand ambassador.

Bank Of Baroda is one of India’s leading banks, and to have signed a deal with them meant a lot to Sumit Nagal. Sumit has since spoken about the confidence the Bank has shown in him stating, “I am honoured and privileged to be associated with Bank of Baroda and would like to thank them for putting their confidence in me”

Mr Chand, MD and CEO of the Bank Of Baroda earlier stated, “Sumit’s commitment, perseverance, passion and authenticity are just some of the attributes that define him; values that Bank of Baroda holds dear as well”

In a move that aligns with the Bank’s philosophy of supporting emerging Indian athletes competing at the global level, Sumit Nagal follows in the footsteps of Indian Badminton icon and Olympic Silver and Bronze medallist PV Sindhu, and the inaugural U-19 Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup-winning captain, Shefali Verma. Both Indian sportswomen are brand ambassadors of the Bank Of Baroda.

Sumit Nagal on the rise

Born in Jhajjar, Haryana, India’s top-ranked Singles player has come a long long way from his humble small-town beginnings. The first Indian to reach the second round of an Olympic singles tennis event in 25 years recently made it to the finals of the Perugia ATP Challengers tournament.

He ended the tournament which concluded on June 16, as the runner-up. With less than 35 days for the Olympics to get underway in Paris, Sumit Nagal will be high on confidence thanks to his impressive performances.

He recently climbed up to the fourth spot, in India’s highest ATP ranked player of all time list after securing a career-high 71st rank. He’s tied with Sashi Menon for now, with only Somdev Devvarman (62), Ramesh Krishnan (23), and Vijay Amritraj (18), ahead of him.

After becoming the first Indian player to defeat a seeded player in the Grand Slam in this year’s Australian Open, Sumit Nagal won the Chennai Open ATP Challenger title to enter the Top 100 ATP Rankings for the first time.

Nagal went on to secure a main draw win at the Monte Carlo Masters, becoming the first Indian to do so. This was followed by his French Open Debut and also won his 6th Challenger Tour title in Heilbronn, Germany.

July 2024 will be a huge month in the career of Sumit Nagal as he awaits the start of Wimbledon where he will be competing in the main draw, followed by the Olympics in the latter half of the month.
