In a dazzling display of skill, young Indian tennis talents marked their presence in the semifinals of the Gadre Marine MSLTA – ITF Junior Grade 3 U18 Tennis Championships at the Deccan Gymkhana Tennis Courts. Krishna Tyagi, Arnav Paparkar, Maya Rajeshwaran, Amodini Naik, and Laxmisiri Dandu secured their spots in the semifinals with impressive victories.
Local wildcard Arnav Paparkar showcased his prowess by overpowering fourth-seeded Kazuma Kimura of Japan with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory, earning a spot in the boys’ semifinals. He will face the second-seeded Krish Tyagi, who had a challenging match against unseeded Bushan Haobam but emerged victorious with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 scoreline.
In the girls’ category, Amodini Naik delivered the biggest upset of the day by defeating second-seeded Mandegar Farzami of Iran with a comeback victory of 3-6, 6-3, 6-1. She will join other Indian talents, top-seeded Maya Rajeshwaran and Laxmisiri Dandu, in the girls’ semifinals. Kazakh player Ariana Gogulina was the lone foreigner to advance, securing victory against Harshini N Nagaraj with a 3-6, 6-0, 6-0 score.
The results from the quarterfinal round showcased intense competition, with notable performances from players like Hiromasa Koyama, Moise Kouame, Maaya Revathi, and Ariana Gogulina.
In the doubles category, top-seeded pair Kazuma Kimura and Ivan Iutkin dominated their opponents, while Indian talents Vihaan Reddy and Debasis Sahoo secured a notable victory. Kriish Tyagi and Cahir Warik also showcased their prowess, advancing to the next round.
