Indian Karate Team Secures Team Runner-Up at South Asian Championship

India shines at the 7th South Asian Karate Championship in Kathmandu, securing the team runner-up title with a remarkable haul of 49 medals. Maharashtra’s Bhargavi Sankhe, Richa Seth, and Sangini Morela contribute to India’s success with their outstanding performances.

The championship, organized by the Nepal Karate Federation, witnessed fierce competition among teams from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The Indian contingent clinched an impressive 22 gold, 21 silver, and 6 bronze medals, showcasing the nation’s prowess in karate.

Bhargavi Sankhe, representing Maharashtra, stood atop the podium in the 63 kg weight category, claiming a well-deserved gold medal. Richa Seth displayed skill and determination, earning a silver medal in the 42 kg weight category. Sangini Morela showcased her prowess in the kata category, securing the bronze medal.

Sandeep Gade, Secretary of Maharashtra, played a crucial role as the coach of the Indian team. Congratulating the athletes, Gade expressed pride in the remarkable achievements of the Indian contingent, highlighting the dedication and hard work that contributed to their success.
