After a long wait since the start of time practically, India will be home to a celebrity boxing matchup between Conor McGregor and Logan Paul! Taking to Social Media yesterday, Conor McGregor squashed rumours of a possible fight with Ilia Topuria and gave some hints about a possible matchup against the elder Paul Brother in India.
‘The Mac’ tweeted on X, “The rumors of a bout with topurio are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.”
Well, it looks like after hosting the grand wedding which saw many A-lister celebrities from around the world visit India, the Ambani family are not quite done flashing off their purse. This could truly be a historic moment if this fight were to ever take place.
An Unexpected Yet Extravagant Return For Conor McGregor
The last time Conor McGregor entered the UFC Octagon was more than 3 years ago. But that was his last MMA bout. Infact, it was in 2017 when Conor McGregor last entered a boxing ring. That was when the Mystic Mac went up against one of the Greatest of All Time in boxing, Floyd Mayweather. His first and only boxing fight inside the ring resulted in a loss.
But it seems that Conor McGregor isn’t done yet with the sport of Boxing as he mentioned in his tweet, the Irishman, if all things pan out well, could go up against Logan Paul in India. While this would not have been possible a few years ago due to the very visible difference in weight classes, the UFC lightweight has significantly put on weight.
There were many rumours and talks of Conor McGregor making a comeback in the UFC against Michael Chandler and was even booked to fight in November, but for all it’s worth, that ship seems to have sailed in light of recent events as McGregor was convicted of sexual assault.
Moving forward, if things work out and this fight is made a reality, this would be a huge deal for fight fans around the world and especially those in India. Surely a story to look forward to!
