Following their 28-run victory over India in the first Test, the confidence in the English camp has increased significantly. England coach Brendon McCullum has now said England is ready to face India in any given condition.
Ahead of the second Test match in Vizag, England are considering playing an all-spin attack that will feature debutant Shoaib Bashir. Moreover, the pitch for the second Test is expected to be a rank turner and assist spinners more than the pitch in Hyderabad.
Speaking ahead of the second Test, McCullum said, “We won’t be afraid to play all our spinners.” But he also added that he will take a call after assessing the situation and the conditions.
The potential of England playing an all-spin attack poses a unique challenge to a rather inexperienced Indian batting line-up.
In the absence of Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, the onus will be on skipper Rohit Sharma to lead from the front and show an inexperienced Indian side how to tackle spinners on turning Indian tracks. However, the 36-year-old has not been in the best of form in the recent past and will need to find a way to get back to his best if India are to draw level in the series.
