India’s journey at the Paris Olympics ended with 6 medals. The Paris Olympics was a very mixed experience for India. India bagged 5 bronze and 1 silver medal. India could have won a total of 12 medals, not 6. Some medals have been missed by a narrow margin.
India had won seven medals in the Tokyo Olympics. The Indian team entered the Paris Olympics aiming to double the number of medals won in the Paris Olympics. But, the nation had to settle for only 6 medals. On one hand, India won 6 medals, on the other hand, a total of 6 Indian athletes finished fourth in different sports. Hence, they lost a total of 6 medals.
Manu Bhaker and Neeraj Chopra; Were amazing for India
Indian athletes including shooter Manu Bhaker finished fourth in the 25m pistol event and weightlifter Mirabai Chanu finished fourth in a total of six events. Thus a total of 6 medals were missed by only one place each.
The nation had high hopes for a gold medal from javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra at the Paris Olympics. But, although Neeraj Chopra threw javelin better than the Tokyo Olympics, Neeraj had to settle for a silver medal. Neeraj Chopra is suffering from a hernia problem. It affected his performance. Also, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem won the gold medal, setting an Olympic record. So Neeraj could not win the gold medal.
