100 days are left for the Paris Olympics. In such conditions, every day, every practice and training session is very important to prepare, said Indian men’s hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh.
The Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Indian team is currently ranked sixth in the world rankings. Harmanpreet said that he wants to improve the results in the Paris Olympics.
In the recent tour of Australia, the Indian team had to accept defeat by a margin of 0-5. After this disappointing performance, Harmanpreet Singh said, ‘We have just returned from a tough tour of Australia. After a short break we will re-enter the field. With only 100 days left for the Paris Olympics, the team’s excitement is growing.’
Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh said, ‘The unity of our team continues to grow, driven by our common goal of winning a gold medal. The team’s head coach, Craig Fulton, has created a weekly schedule for us. Because we are counting down to the Olympics.’
India qualified for the Paris Olympics by winning the gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year.
India’s vice-captain Hardik Singh said that the team will have to correct its shortcomings before the Paris Games. “The Test series against Australia showed us that we need to improve,” he said. We will work on this when we get back to camp. Our aim is to ensure that we resolve every issue in time for the Paris Olympics.’
“We will give our best every day of the remaining 100 days to ensure that our desire to win a gold medal at the Olympics is fulfilled,” he said.
India have been placed in Group B at the Paris Olympics along with defending champions Belgium, Australia, Argentina, New Zealand and Ireland.
India will play their first match against New Zealand on July 27 and will hope to finish in the top four to enter the quarterfinals.
