The anticipation builds as the ICC announces the schedule for the ICC Awards 2023, recognizing outstanding international cricket performers from the thrilling year gone by.
Starting from January 3, shortlists for nine categories will be unveiled over three days, featuring nominees in men’s and women’s formats. Among the prestigious awards are the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year and the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year.
The shortlists, determined by a panel of cricket experts, will be revealed for categories including Emerging Cricketers, T20I and ODI Cricketers, and Test Cricketer of the Year. The announcement will be made on official ICC channels.
Cricket enthusiasts globally will have a chance to influence the outcome, as voting opens on January 3, allowing fans to cast their votes for their favorite performers. The ICC Voting Academy and global media representatives will also contribute to the final decision.
While the ICC Awards celebrate cricket excellence, skeptics argue that fan voting might be influenced by popularity rather than merit, potentially impacting the credibility of the results.
