Gurudev Samantbhadra Vidyamandir qualifies for the state-level Subroto Mukherjee football tournament

Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament is one of the oldest national school football tournaments. The tournament was introduced in 1960. It is named after the Indian Air Force Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee. This was done to promote and encourage the sport at the grassroots level in the country. Over the years students from across states have participated in the football tournament and made their names from here. They get call-ups for nationals as well. 

The 65th edition of the tournament. The girls’ team of Gurudev Samantbhadra Vidyamandir School, Verul has qualified for the state-level Subroto Mukherjee Cup football tournament. They won the title in the Under-17 category in the Divisional Subroto Mukherjee Football Tournament held at Parbhani. Dr. Zakir Hussain College organized the tournament.

In the under-17 category, the girls’ team of Gurudev Samantabhadra Vidya Mandir Verul reached the final by beating Podar International School (Jalna) 4-3 in a tiebreaker in the semi-final match. In the final match, the Gurudev Samantabhadra Vidyamandir team defeated the Podar International School team of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar by 3-2 and won the title.

Radha Thorat played a crucial role in the final

Radha Thorat, Ishwari Misal, Neha Pathade, and Pranita Chavan played a great role in the final match. They played a vital role in winning the title. Kalyani Janghale, Neha Pathade, Radha Thorat, Ishwari Misal, Pranita Chavan, Neelam Janghale, Vaishnavi Matkar, Mayuri Bakal. 

Along with Shreya Gumladu, Preeti Chavan, Gayatri Gore, Achal Janghale, Janvi Jha, Sheikh Alia, Sheikh Sanobar and Palak Jain were part of this winning team. This includes players. These players have benefited from the guidance of senior sports teachers Sanjay Mahajan, Ashish Kanhead, Mohammad Riyazuddin, and Preeti Pawar.
