A lively sports festival, commemorating the birthday of Shiv Sena leader and former MP Chandrakant Khaire, commenced with a grand inauguration at Raje Sambhaji Bhosale Military School in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The event featured a district-level inter-school Kho-Kho competition, jointly organized by Raje Sambhaji Bhosale Sainiki School and District Kho-Kho Association.
The opening ceremony was graced by Chandrakant Khaire, who serves as the President of Jai Maharashtra Shikshan Prasarak Sanstha. The distinguished guests included District Sports Officer Bajirao Desai, District Kho-Kho Association President Sameer Mule, Maharashtra Kho-Kho Association Secretary Govind Sharma, Shiv Sena West City Chief Vijay Vakchoure, Shivsena Upazila Chief Raju Rathod, School Committee President Sachin Khaire, and Sainik School Principal Rishikesh Patil.
Notably, 26 teams from the district participated in the Kho-Kho competition, adding fervor to the event. In the first match between Waghmare and Rajshree Shahu Vidyalaya, Waghmare emerged victorious by five runs. The second match featured New High School Aurala and Kalavati Chavan High School, with New High School Aurala securing a three-run victory in one inning.
Shiv Sena leader Chandrakant Khaire, addressing the gathering, emphasized the significance of sports in school life and extended his wishes to the participating athletes. National players Aditya Bhangale and Karthik Salunkhe were honored during the inauguration.
Critics argue that the association of political figures with sports events may lead to potential politicization and influence, questioning the true intent behind such affiliations.
