How the Yankees aren’t giving Shohei Ohtani the Barry Bonds treatment by now is legitimately insane. Mickey Moniak is having a great season for the Angels. It doesn’t matter. If he beats you, at least you didn’t moronically challenge Ohtani when he’s putting up one of the best seasons we’ve ever seen from a baseball player.
And if you’re going to do that, don’t throw him a 1-2 pitch anywhere near the zone.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Earlier in the game they intentionally walked Ohtani with runners on the corners for Moniak and it worked. I don’t care if it puts the go ahead run at the plate, you take that chance rather than challenging the best player in the whole fucking universe. 35 homers and 75 RBIs yeah fuck it let’s go after him here. Losers, all of them. Can’t wait for Boone to scoff at the idea of walking him there when he’s asked in the postgame interview.
God I wish I could appreciate how cool that bat flip was, but I barely have any soul left after what I’ve watched lately with the Yankees. Don’t think I’ve ever seen him show that much emotion before. Sadness.
This mythical figure is actually going to get $700M this offseason.
