Gobert Sees His Wallet Take Another Hit: NBA Fines Star $75,000

Rudy Gobert’s wallet has been raided by NBA fines once again. The Minnesota Timberwolves Center was fined $75,000 for a gesture. According to the authorities, Gobert’s gesture was inappropriate and unprofessional. It suggested a lack of integrity and fairness with the league and its officials. The former DPOY made money-counting signs to himself. The Frenchman was suggesting that the referees and officials were paid off. The former Utah player has a history of improper conduct towards game officials. This history was considered for the fine according to Joe Dumars, The NBA Executive Vice-President of Basketball Operations.

Multiple Fines For Gobert

After the game, Gobert firmly denied any allegations that suggested he wanted to send a message to the league. “There was no message,” Gobert said. “Just emotions. I got to control my emotions. It was a very physical game, an emotional game. So I got to control my emotions.” This situation is eerily similar to the incident that happened in the regular season game against Cleveland. The referees called for a technical foul after making a similar money-counting gesture and was later fined a whopping $ 100,000. The three-time NBA All-Star has suggested that the rise of betting may influence the decisions made by the officials.

Redemption For Rudy

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Rudy Gobert have gone down 3-2 against the Denver Nuggets. They were outclassed by Nikola Jokic’s side as they suffered a 112-97 loss. Gobert collected his 4th NBA Defensive Player of the Year trophy earlier. He’s equaled the record for most DPOYs ever won and is widely considered one of the best defensive players of all time. The Frenchman will be determined to defeat Denver in game 6 and tie the series. However with all the fines and technical fouls he has brought on his head, he will have to be extra careful during the game and not let emotions get the better of him
