Gautam Gambhir is the front-runner to become the next Indian men’s national team coach. The former World Cup winner will be succeeding Rahul Dravid. There has been no official confirmation about the former to be named as the coach for the Men in Blue side. He has the experience of coaching in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Started his mentoring career with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and he was then associated with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
The Southpaw mentored the Knights to their third IPL trophy. His side played an amazing brand of cricket throughout the tournament. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah wants a person who has a better understanding of Indian cricket. ‘GG’ has always been straightforward with his words. Despite the controversies related to him, his approach and ability to motivate players, have made the difference in managing the franchise team.
His leadership transformed KKR from a poor-looking side. They finished seventh place last year, topping the table and winning the final in the 2024 edition. Gambhir has changed the dynamics of the dressing room since his arrival on the team. His bold decision-making and value for the contributions of lesser-known players alongside star performers make him different from the others.
Will Gambhir’s vision bring success or failure to India?
The new head coach will be joining the side from the Sri Lanka tour. If the left-handed batter gets in the responsibility for the national side, he might change the dynamics of the team as well. He looks at every cricketer with the same eye and never differentiates between the experienced and young cricketers. With the senior cricketer Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja calling an end to their T20I career.
Gauti will have a tough job in hand to nurture the upcoming stars for the future. Gautam Gambhir’s inclusion in the team will have a positive effect as his ability to back his players despite poor form will motivate the cricketers to perform freely and better and get back in form. The fans are waiting for the announcement of the new head coach to be made by the management.
