Max Verstappen, who has won four titles in a row, is regarded as one of the fastest and most gifted drivers of recent years. The Dutchman’s father, Jos, believes his son has fulfilled his full potential, while others believe he has unleashed his inner beast. Verstappen made his F1 debut as the youngest driver, and as he developed, he demonstrated why he was highly regarded throughout his younger years.
In 2021, the 27-year-old defeated seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton to win his first championship. He then went on to win three more titles. Lando Norris posed a big danger to Verstappen throughout the 2024 season. He did, however, believe in his ability to become a four-time world champion. Last year, he won 19 out of 22 races. This year, he won nine races. The driver constantly offers excellent performance and avoids mistakes throughout the year.
In the 2024 season, Verstappen was the only Red Bull driver to win a race, while teammate Sergio Perez did not. He achieved many podiums in the first half but experienced a poor performance after the summer break. After the Abu Dhabi GP, Red Bull fired Perez and announced Liam Lawson as Verstappen’s partner for the 2025 season.
Verstappen’s Critics Claim He’s Maxed Out
Juan Pablo Montoya, a Colombian racing driver, believes Max Verstappen is unlikely to win his fifth title in 2025, as he is not considered a top contender. Montoya faulted the RB series, claiming the vehicle lacked the necessary speed to contend for the title. Verstappen had expressed reservations about the RB20’s instability and lack of performance. He believes that if core concerns are not addressed, winning the title next year may be impossible.
Speaking to ViaPlay, Max Verstappen said, “Well, you would say, isn’t it? I mean, he’s definitely at his best. And I don’t know if there’s more to it or not. I have no idea. I mean, it seems like he’s there when he needs to be there. He’s strong in the crucial moments. So, I think that’s so important to do.”
