Pakistan Cricket Board got a big shock on Saturday. Former Pakistan Cricket Board President Shahryar Khan passed away on Saturday. He was 89 years old.
The demise of the long-serving former head of the Pakistan Cricket Board has left the cricketing world in mourning. Shahryar Khan, who played an important role in restoring cricket ties with India in the early 2000s, has passed away.
Former India captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s relative Shahryar Khan was ill for several days. He was born in Bhopal. He was the Foreign Secretary of Pakistan between 1990 and 1994. He was also Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India and the United Kingdom. Shahryar Khan became the first President of the Pakistan Cricket Board between 2003 and 2006. Meanwhile, the Indian team visited Pakistan twice. After that, he also held the charge of PCB chief from 2014 to 2017.
He was the manager of the Pakistan team during the 1999 India tour of Pakistan and the 2003 ODI World Cup. He belonged to the royal family of Bhopal. Current PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has expressed grief over his demise.
Naqvi said, ‘On behalf of PCB, I express my deep grief and sorrow over the demise of former president Shahryar Khan. He was a good administrator and served Pakistan cricket with utmost dedication. Pakistan Cricket will remain indebted to Shahryar Khan for his services to the development of the game in the country.
